In honor of this week’s PEN World Voices Festival, learn more about Cambodian poet and PEN Cambodia member Tararith Kho. Kho is an activist and the founder of Nou Hach Literature Project/Journal, which is a Khmer journal dedicated to promoting and preserving Cambodian voices. In 2011, Kho was named an International Writers Program Fellow at Brown University, and was a prior Fellow of Comparative Literature at Harvard.
In 2010, Kho was forced to resign from the Nou Hach Literature Project after receiving death threats due to his criticism of the Cambodian government. He is currently a Professor in Khmer Studies at Middlesex Community College.
