Past Programs

Performing Arts Program

At the Kampong Chhnang and Kampong Speu Orphanages in Cambodia, our students had the opportunity to preserve their own culture by learning traditional Cambodian dance (Apsara) and Khmer music. Not only was the Performing Arts Program a wonderful opportunity for students to stay physically healthy, they also were taught new means of self-expression. Our students gained confidence, connected with their home country, and even performed for guests of the orphanage.

Visual Arts Program

Students at our Global Children Orphanage greatly enjoyed our Visual Arts Program. They had the opportunity to learn both oil on canvas painting and how to create their own sketches on paper. They explored a variety of subjects, especially landscape and landmark painting. We were thrilled to feature and to sell some of our students’ works at our Auction for Action Fundraiser in April of 2015. Students painted with bright, vibrant colors and loved sharing their work with each other.

Photography Program

In 2004, Global Children Cambodia partnered with the UK-based organization PhotoVoice to teach photography to our students and children. Over the course of six weeks, students were given cameras, basic photography instruction, and lessons in choosing subject matter. They took and developed their own photos with the help of our instructors. Popular subjects included daily life, shots of the market, rice paddies, and friends. After the program’s end, Global Children Cambodia continued to support the purchase and development of film for interested students, some of whose works were published in journals and magazines.
