My name is En Pisey. I am an orphan girl with no parents. I have four siblings, and three of them have a family of their own. I have no one to rely on; I live in poverty. I decided to live and work for a family in order to go to school. But it didn’t happen as I had hoped. When I lived with them, I did not get to go to school at all, and they looked down on me.
They mistreated and hit me, not letting me go to school.
They didn’t give me food and made me serve their kid.
This painful experience has stuck in my brain until now. I didn’t think I would be able to study like other kids because I couldn’t afford it. But one day, I met an aunt and an uncle who take care of kids at an organization in Siem Reap. They took me to the organization to study. I was in the orphanage organization from 2012 until 2022 until I graduated from grade 12. The years I spent in the organization changed my life completely.
After graduating from high school, I am again fortunate because I live with the Global Children Cambodia organization which helps me continue with my education at a university. Now I’m a first-year student at the National University of Management, majoring in accounting. Without Global Children, I wouldn’t be able to continue my education.
