When I was five years old, both of my parents abandoned me after their divorce and started new families. Raised by my aunt and uncle, farmers in Tapang village, I was determined to make them proud through my studies. Despite excelling in school and dreaming of becoming a computer teacher, the COVID-19 pandemic in 2019 devastated my family financially, and I nearly gave up on education entirely. I convinced them to let me finish high school, even as we struggled to afford it.
After graduating in 2023 with good results, university seemed impossible. I worked for a year at Sokhalay Angkor Resort and Spa, believing my dreams were out of reach. When I applied for a Global Children scholarship with little hope, I received life-changing news: acceptance to study Computer Science at National University of Management in Phnom Penh. Now I’m determined to gain the skills to give back to my community and help other children facing similar hardships.
